I just recently went through 8 weeks of an intensive inpatient eating disorder program. I have struggled with binge eating and dieting for 10 years. The clinic I was at preached ‘set-point theory’. I was wondering if you had any opinions on this topic. It stresses me out to think I’ve permanently raised my ‘set-point’ and there isn’t a darn thing I can do about it.

I need to emphasise that more – BALANCED. Because you are right, looking after yourself is presented as this incredibly difficult thing where you have to do x y and z and bark at the full moon, but its not that hard and balance is key.

I feel my very best when I’m not eating ANY animal foods (I know some people are the complete opposite), but I do include local organic pastured eggs in my diet regularly to make sure I’m covering those bases. For my vegan followers, I generally recommend B12, algal DHA and protein supplementation to make sure you’re getting the nutrients plants can’t provide in adequate quantities (and I use those when I’m not eating eggs). Balance is so important!

I really hope you get many followers, because you seem to have a different path in mind for people– one where they use their brains instead of following what somebody tells them. I am a vegetarian bordering on vegan (due to moral issues, not physical), but as I progress further, I feel the difference in my body that plant based foods give. Maybe, in some way, some people feel like they need animal protein, but my body seems to excel without it. Anyway, good luck with everything and I really hope people start waking up and not living in their sugary, meaty, dairy-filled ways!!!

She pointed me to this site. I have been insides by watching Olympics and my friend and wanting to make changes. This is so interesting. Thank you!

I have been following you on FB for sometime now. I am on a journey to wellness and I, like many others, find your philosophy refreshing. You are so open and honest while remaining inclusive. This life is not a “one size, fits all” affair. My goal now is to eat in a way that feels good for me. I have been mostly vegan for a couple of years now and my body just feels good this way!! The few occasions when I have had meat or dairy, I haven’t felt good. As far as exercise is concerned. I enjoy sweating, so I will up my intensity and do shorter cardio workouts and gradually add in the heavy weights!! Thans again!
Audrey
