I think it’s important for everyone in the fitness community to understand that some people are recovering from eating disorders and so wiping out entire categories of food as a “never” food is dangerous for them. We should all be more mindful of everyone’s personal journeys.
]]>My chiropractor really helped with my back and helping me to be able to exercise. You can do it if you can’t afford it, without the chiropractor and acupuncturist. It wasn’t so much like massage but in helping to heal the damage in my body that they were working on. My chiropractor cost me about $60 a visit and it was about the same for the acupuncturist.
I don’t feel comfortable recommending something or not, as each person is different. Everyone’s starting point, needs and what your body will and won’t respond to is different. My best advice is that if you have an eating disorder, the best thing I ever did was find a therapist I liked and to learn new coping skills for dealing with feelings, life and everything else instead of eating. Work with your doctor. Find the foods that work for your body, that you feel good with eating, that make you feel good and feels right for you to eat. Then find a exercise you like and do that. Try things you never thought you’d like, just in case you find out, you do. You won’t stick with anything if you’re doing it just for the time being. It sounds really cliche but it does have to be a lifestyle change.
And best of luck to you on your journey. Be gentle with yourself if you take two steps forward and one step back. It’s a learning process and anything you do to help yourself forward, is a step forward.
]]>You are awesome!!
]]>Your story is beautiful! I want to commend you for all the strength and courage that you have. You really are a fighter (for great reasons)! It’s not easy to take such a balanced, personalized approach to something people try to streamline. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.
]]>Thank you so much for your story – it is so inspirational! I totally relate to everything you have felt and gone through. I am starting the same journey and am curious as to how much you feel the chiropractor and acupuncturist helped in your healing? Those are two things I don’t think I can afford. I wonder if an occasional massage would suffice. Could you say what were probably the most important aspects of your ongoing success? Sounds like mindful eating and exercise are key.
